Cheddar Caves & gorge

A major tourist attraction for over 200 years, with plenty to do above and below ground. Also a Site of Special Scientific Interest in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where you'll find many rare species.

The Cathedral-like Caves and Britain's biggest Gorge are actually million-year-old Ice Age river beds. Your ancestors have lived here for 40,000 years, and world-famous Cheddar Man is Britain's oldest complete skeleton.

Cheddar Caves Adventure Activities

At Cheddar Caves & Gorge there are RockSport Adventure Activities such as potholing the Mendip caves, or tea rooms, in which to enjoy a quiet cream tea. Or how about eating some delicious cheese. Cheddar cheese was origionally made here and ripened in the caves.
