The Island is renowned as the favorite home of Queen Victoria, she fell in love with the Island's extrodinary natural beauty, and built the elegant Osbourne House. Over half of the Island is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the endangered red squirrel can be spotted in one of its last sancturies in Parkhurst Forest....

The island is also ideal for walking; Wildflower medows, rugged wind lashed cliffs and bird-filled esturies... the best way to drink in the views is on foot, there are 500 miles of award-winning foot paths and bridal ways on the Island. The UK's largest walking festival is held every May on the Island.
